Voter turnout surges past 40pc in LPR Elections as of 12 p.m.
LUGANSK, November 11 (Lugansk Media Centre) – Voter turnout in November 11 elections has surpassed 40 pc as of 10.00 (UTC+3), the Central Election Comission said.
"The turnout has reached 43 pc as of 12 p.m. No violations have been recorded," the commission's chairwoman Elena Kravchenko said.
A lot of pensioners took to polls today, despite having an opportunity to vote at home.
"Me and my old lady decided to come here today," said one of the voters who was leaning on a walking stick.
Voting stations opened across the LPR at 8 a.m. They are scheduled to close at 8 p.m., but their operation might be prolonged.
The four candidates running for Head have promised to focus on improving economy, living standards, heath care and social guarantees, and to fight corruption.
In accordance with the Article 16 of the Election Law, in order to win a candidate needs the majority of votes cast.
