Vodafone suspends operation in LPR following DPR cable rupture
LUGANSK, January 11 (Lugansk Media Centre) - Mobile operator Vodafone known as MTS Ukraine before rebranding suspended operation in LPR territory due to cable rupture in the Donetsk People’s Republic, LPR Telecom and Mass Communications Ministry reported.
“At around 2:10 p.m on 11 January 2018, Vodafone Ukraine suspended the service for its subscribers across the Lugansk People’s Republic. According to company technicians, a trunk fibre optic cable ruptured in Elenovka area in the Donetsk People’s Republic,” the report said.
“Repairs will begin shortly,” it said.
Meawhile, Donetsk News Agency citing DPR Communications Minister Viktor Yatsenio said the fibre optic cable had been damaged by Urkainian forces.
“Ukrainian army units severed the MTS Ukraine cable running in the direction of Elenoka, that’s why the operator network crashed,” Yatsenko said.
