Ukrainian forces fire at OSCE drone in Troitskoye area - LPR militia
LUGANSK, March 11 (Lugansk Media Centre) - Kiev forces fired at an unmanned aerial vehicle of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to prevent the detection of military equipment in the Troitskoye area, the Lugansk People’s Republic People’s Militia press service reported.
“To prevent the detection of hardware in the Troitskoye settlement, 59th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade commander Gennady Shapovalov ordered to thwart the OSCE SMM UAV. It came under small arms fire which foiled the recording of the violation by the enemy,” the report said.
The OSCE SMM monitors had to withdraw from the area. This fact was confirmed in the OSCE SMM report dated March 10, 2021.
Earlier, the LPR militia repeatedly reported that that Kiev forces used radio electronic warfare equipment to hamper OSCE SMM monitors’ activity in the so-called “Joint Forces Operation” zone.
The Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014. Conflict settlement relies on the Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements, signed on February 12, 2015 in the Belarussian capital by the Contact Group members and coordinated by the Normandy Four heads of states (Russia, Germany, France and Ukraine). The document provides for ceasefire and withdrawal of heavy weapons from the contact line.
