Ukrainian forces down OSCE drone in Schastye area - LPR militia
LUGANSK, August 15 (Lugansk Media Centre) - Kiev forces have shot down an OSCE Special Monitoring Mission unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in the Schastye area near the contact line to conceal their weapons and hardware, the Lugansk People’s Republic People’s Militia press service said.
“To conceal the deployment of weapons and military equipment, Ukrainian armed formations used small arms to shoot down an OSCE SMM UAV in the Schastye area,” the press service said.
Kiev forces continue to build up their potential in the “Joint Forces Operation” zone; for example, they deployed two infantry fighting vehiciles in the Zolotoye-4 area and one MT-LB light multipurpose tracked vehicle in Popasnaya, it added.
Earlier, the LPR militia repeatedly reported the use of electronic warfare systems by Ukraine against OSCE drones.
The Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements was adopted by the Contact Group on Ukraine on February 12, 2015 and supported by member states of the Normandy Four (Germany, Russia, Ukraine and France). The UN Security Council approved the document by Resolution 2202 and called upon all the sides to ensure full implementation of the Package of Measures.
The document provides for comprehensive ceasefire, withdrawal of all heavy weapons from the contact line, starting a dialog on reconstruction of social and economic ties between Kiev and Donbass. It also envisages carrying out constitutional reform in Ukraine providing for decentralization and adopting permanent legislation on a special status of certain areas of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
