Ukraine forces LPR residents to collaborate in exchange for pension - MGB
LUGANSK, March 5 (Lugansk Media Centre) - The State Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) forces senior Lugansk People’s Republic residents to collaborate in exchange for drawing a pension in Kiev-controlled areas, LPR State Security Ministry (MGB) spokeswoman Yevgenia Lyubenko said.
“The MGB learnt about the arrival in the Kiev-held territory of the Lugansk region of an SBU team from western Ukraine,” Lyubenko said. “Their objective is make retirement age LPR citizens arriving in Ukraine to prepare pension papers, to agree to secret collaboration.”
She said that the SBU identifies potential agents at district pension funds as targets for its recruitment efforts.
“LPR residents are tasked with gathering passing state secrets to the SBU in exchange for getting an allowance,” the MGB spokeswoman said.
The MGB reminded about criminal liability for cooperating with foreign secret services. However, Articles 335 and 336 of the LPR Criminal Code make an exemption for those who timely report the recruitment attempts.
