Truce helped to carry out repairs on 393 requests - JCCC
LUGANSK, December 31 (Lugansk Media Centre) - The Additional Measures to Strengthen the Ceasefire in Donbass enabled Lugansk People’s Republic utility companies to carry out repairs in the vicinity of the contact line on 393 requests, the Lugansk People’s Republic Office at the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination (JCCC) reported.
“The current ceasefire contributed to safe infrastructure facilities repairs next to the contact line. Over the past year, the LPR Office at the JCCC helped to carry out repairs at power, water and gas supply facilities on 393 requests,” the report said.
Under the accords reached in Minsk, the LPR Office coordinated LPR contractors’ works to build new crossing points “Lugansk-Schastye” and “Pervomaisk-Zolotoye.”
"Special attention was paid to the safety of works and observation of the truce,” the LPR Office at the JCCC said.
The Contact Group agreed the tighter ceasefire control measures in Donbass starting at 00:01, July 27. The measures ban special operations, use of unmanned aerial vehicles and deployment of heavy armaments in and around residential areas. Return fire is allowed in case of offensive, if the order is given by the leadership of the Ukrainian army or the LPR or the DPR People’s Militias after the unsuccessful attempt to use the coordination mechanism. The Contact Group shall be notified about such orders.
The Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014. Conflict settlement relies on the Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements, signed on February 12, 2015 in the Belarussian capital by the Contact Group members and coordinated by the Normandy Four heads of states (Russia, Germany, France and Ukraine). The document provides for ceasefire and withdrawal of heavy weapons from the contact line.
