Terrorists blew up overpass in Lugansk with 15 kg bombs - police
LUGANSK, September 19 (Lugansk Media Centre) - Terrorists blew up three pillars of an overpass in Lugansk using 15-kilogramme bombs, the Lugansk People’s Republic Interior Ministry press service reported citing Interior Minister Igor Kornet.
“An expert examination will determine the types of explosive used in the terrorist attack. I can say that the yield of each bomb made some 15 kilogrammes of TNT. Judging by the detonators, we assume that the perpetrators were experts,” Kornet said.
The minister also said that the police were taking measures and that “some progress has been made.”
“It’s safe to say that the terrorists will not escape punishment. Ukraine changed the government, but the methods and ways remained the same. It shows once again that nobody wants to come to terms with us,” he said.
Earlier in the day, LPR Head Leonid Pasechnik ordered to restore the blown-up overpass in the shortest possible time.
Kornet said the overpass bridge at the intersection of Lutuginskaya and 2nd Stroitelnaya Streets had been damaged in a terrorist attack and that it was on the route of the Russian humanitarian aid convoy.
He said that the LPR Interior Ministry was set to detain the perpetrators of the blast within the next few days.
The LPR government set up a crisis centre to investigate the overpass explosion.
