Statement by LPR Foreign Minister Vladislav Deinego following Contact Group video conference
Today, the Minsk Contact Group had a video conference focused on repairs of the bridge at the crossing point in Stanitsa Luganskaya.
At the insistence of the Lugansk People’s Republic, the discussion involved, in addition to the Contact Group members, technical specialists of the LPR and Ukraine tasked with bridge repairs.
As a result, we finally heard Ukraine name the date of the beginning of repairs on the bridge span which was blown up by Ukrainian gunmen in March 2015. On October 4, Ukrainian repairmen plan to begin the restoration of the collapsed section of the bridge and finish these works by November 18.
We hope that in the near future, we will hear the basic parameters of the new section, despite the fact that Ukraine has systemically evaded the fulfilment of this obligation, namely the presentation of its technical characteristics. Unquestionably, we will work towards making the bridge convenient for the passage of people.
We hope that the announced dates will be supported by real results and that Ukraine will not politicize bridge repairs and fufilfl the commitments undertaken in the course of today’s discussion.
We are ready for simultaneously repair the rest of the bridge: restore the support framework damaged by Ukrainian strikes, the bridge crash barriers and the asphalt surface.
If need be, we can render any possible assistance in creating normal conditions for people crossing the contact line in the winter.
