Slavyanoserbsk shuts down transport, schools and markets due to COVID-19 outbreak
LUGANSK, August 31 (Lugansk Media Centre) – The Republic’s Emergency Sanitary and Anti-Epidemic Commission has introduced transport restrictions and limited the work of markets and schools in Slavyanoserbsk, the Government's press office said.
"A meeting of the Emergency Commission took place on August 31, the minister of health Natalya Paschenko and deputy head sanitary doctor Nadezhda Kachur delivered their reports on the COVID-19 and on the outbreak of the infection in Slavyanoserbsk," the report reads.
The members of the Commission "unilaterally decided on introducing additional anti-epidemic measures in the town".
The following restrictions will be in place since September1 until further notice:
- Ban on public transport (town, suburban, inter-city, taxi)
- Ban on travels outside the town by private transport
- Markets are to be closed
- Homeschooling only is allowed
Food delivery and corporal vehicles, specialized transport, and emergency services will be operating as normal.
The World Health Organisation called the COVID-19 coronavirus infection a pandemic. The first coronavirus infection cases were recorded in China in late 2019. As of now, the number of the infected has exceeded 24.8 million; of those, over 838,000 have died, according to WHO.
