Russian presidential aide Surkov congratulates Pasechnik and Pushilin
LUGANSK, November 12 (Lugansk Media Centre) – Russian presidential aide Vladislav Surkov has extended his congratulations to LPR acting head Leonid Pasechnik and DPR Interim Head Denis Pushilin after they won leadership elections in their Republics.
Alexey Chesnakov, political scientist and director of the Center for Current Politics, told TASS News Agency that Surkov's letter said "the high turnout for the elections showed the whole world that Donbass people are proud and smart, they believe in themselves and can protect themselves, they totally reject Kiev's blunt policy."
"Surkov is sure that the elected leaders shall do everything they can to raise the living standards and to deliver on international commitments."
LPR acting head Leonid Pasechnik is on track to win the election, preliminary results announced by the Central Election Commission suggest.
"Leonid Pasechnik's result is 68.4%, after 96% of the ballots counted."
His runner-up is Oleg Koval (16.57 percent), followed by Natalia Sergun (7.89 percent) and Ludmila Rusnak (5.84 percent).
The social movement Mir Luganschine is poised to win control over the Parliament with 74.13% of votes; Lugansk Economic Union has secured 25.16 so far.
