Russia limits entry to LPR residents without Russian passports to fight COVID-19 spread

LUGANSK, March 18 (Lugansk Media Centre) – LPR Border Control has clarified the procedure to cross the border with Russia.

"LPR Border Control informs that in accordance with the Russian Government's decree No 635-R dated March 16, 2020 Russia limits entry for foreigners and stateless persons to prevent the spread of the coronavirus," the report made public by the MGB reads.

Russia allows entry for:

-          LPR residents with Russian citizenship;

-          LPR residents who travel in organized groups to receive Russian passports;

-          People who reside in Russia and have residence permitж

-          People who travel to attend funerals of family members if they have documents confirming family ties and death;

-          TIR owners;

The entry on personal vehicles is allowed for LPR residents in case they have Russian passports and a filled-in customs declaration.

The entry for travelers on buses is allowed for LPR residents in case they have Russian passports.

The checkpoints in Popovka, Krasnodarka, Krasnodarka-1, Peschanovka, Novoborovitsy, Severnyi is allowed for local residents with both Russian passports and LPR passports confirming local registration.

Russian passports are sufficient to cross at the Izvarino, Dolzhanskoye, Chervonopartizansk checkpoints.

LPR Head Leonid Pasechnik ordered high alert in the Republic in connection with the threat of spreading of the COVID-19 coronavirus infection.

The World Health Organisation called the COVID-19 coronavirus infection a pandemic. The first coronavirus infection cases were recorded in China in late 2019.  As of now, the number of coronavirus cases exceeded 200,000; of those more than 7,900 died and over 81,000 recovered and were discharged from hospitals. Coronavirus cases were reported in Ukraine and Russia. No coronavirus cases were recorded in the LPR.
