Pasechnik thanks Russia for easing path to citizenship for Donbass residents
LUGANSK, April 24 (Lugansk Media Centre) – The LPR Head Leonid Pasechnik has Russia for easing the procedure for granting Russian citizenship for Donbass residents.
"Thank you Russia for the decision on a simplified procedure for granting citizenship! This is an outstanding event, long-awaited by the LPR Residents," he wrote on Twitter.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed an order to simplify the procedure for obtaining a Russian passport for residents of the LPR and DPR. The Kremlin published the document on Wednesday.
According to the order, the residents of the LPR and DPR can file applications for Russian citizenship with the territorial bodies of the Internal Affairs Ministry defined by the Ministry.
The applications should be accompanied by a number of documents, such as ID containing a registration stamp, confirming the residence in the LPR or DPR; documents confirming the change of names, foreign citizenship; marriage or divorce certificates, birth certificates for children included in the application.
The applications are to be reviewed within three months.
