Pasechnik: LPR to grant wider powers to local authorities
LUGANSK, March 14 (Lugansk Media Centre) – The LPR is going to grant wider powers and extended roles to local authorities, still providing finance to the regions, said LPR acting head Leonid Pasechnik speaking at today's meeting of the Republican Council of the Mir Luganschine social movement.
"We have had meetings with towns and districts local authorities, I've heard a lot from them, including complaints that today local leaders have no powers and authority. Currently we re-establish the right attitude to the issue, we give power back to regional authorities so that they have control over their territories."
Pasechnik said that finance will be provided to the territories to strengthen the role of local authorities which will have more responsibilities.
"I draw the attention of every leader to the fact that you will be accountable for every rouble spent. Corruption will destroy all our efforts. Anyone engaged in corrupt practices will be held accountable according to the law; anyone from a minister to a worker," Pasechnik said.
Earlier acting LPR head said his top priority was to withstand corruption and that the LPR parliament should develop and improve laws focusing on fighting corruption.
Pasechnik has announced his contention for the Republic's leadership at the upcoming elections scheduled for autumn 2018.
