Pasechnik hopes LPR, DPR will dismantle customs barriers by yearend
LUGANSK, October 23 (Lugansk Media Centre) - Acting Head of the Lugansk People’s Republic Leonid Pasechnik hopes that the Donbass Republics will dismantle their customs barriers by yearend.
“We have an accord with the DPR on this account; the customs border will be definitely abolished,” Pasechnik said at a joint news conference with acting DPR Head Denis Pushilin in Donetsk on Tuesday.
“We only have to harmonise our Customs Codes to separate the contraband issue. We are moving along this track; as soon as it’s done we'll abolish the borders and sign the appropriate agreement,” he said.
“This work has been going for a long time; it’s actually in its final stage. I believe that the problem will be settled by the New Year,” Pasechnik said.
Earlier, Pasechnik said at a press conference in Lugansk that he believed that the customs border between the LPR and the DPR was not the right thing. In May, he signed a degree to unilaterally dismantle the customs border with the DPR expressing the hope that the acting DPR Head would act likewise.
