Over 330 Ukrainian residents receive welfare payments from LPR
LUGANSK, June 13 (Lugansk Media Centre) – Over 330 residents of the Kiev-controlled Lugansk region have received one-time payments in the Lugansk People's Republic as part of the targeted assistance program for people in Ukraine-controlled Donbass areas, the LPR Labour and Social Policy Ministry reported.
The LPR began making targeted payments on February 20 under the aegis of the Donbass people reunification humanitarian program, the Ministry said.
“As of the morning of June 13, the number of people from Kiev-held areas of the Lugansk region who received Donbass people reunification humanitarian program aid had reached 332,” the report said.
Sixty-two World War II veterans and 270 large families have collected their benefits at LPR welfare centers.
The groups entitled to humanitarian program lump sum payments of up to 12,000 rubles are WW II veterans and participants in the 1945 fighting with the Imperial Japan. Large families with three or more children under 18 years of age are entitled to 6,000 rubles benefits per family.
Earlier, the Labour and Social Policy Ministry reported that as of March 20, more than 100 residents of Kiev-controlled part of the Lugansk region had received one-time benefits.
The financial aid is paid as part of the welfare program approved by the LPR Council of Ministers, which defined the groups of residents in Ukraine-controlled Donbass entitled to support in 2018.
In 2017, the LPR Council of Ministers issued a resolution to pay 10,000-ruble Victory Day benefits to war veterans living in the Republic and Kiev-controlled areas of the Lugansk region.
On February 17 LPR and DPR Heads Igor Plotnitskiy and Alexander Zakharchenko launched the program of humanitarian assistance for residents of Kiev-occupied part of Donbass. The main goal of the program is to provide financial, medical and educational aid to socially vulnerable groups.
LPR Telecom and Mass Communications Ministry launched the humanitarian program website.
