Over 300 thousand LPR residents obtain Republican passports
LUGANSK, November 13 (Lugansk Media Centre) – More than 300 thousand LPR residents have obtained Republican passports, said deputy head of the LPR Migration Service Ruslan Naida.
"As for LPR residents, 300 thousands have obtained Republican ID documents as of today, almost 40 thousand have obtained Russian passports," he said.
Naida added that 60 thousand have already applied for Russian citizenship.
On April, 24, 2019, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree easing citizenship rules for residents of the Lugansk People’s Republic and the Donetsk People’s Republic.
LPR Head Leonid Pasechnik thanked Russia for this move and ordered the ministries concerned to create the necessary conditions for documents from residents applying for Russian passports. The first centre for LPR residents seeking Russian citizenship opened in Lugansk on May 6. The Republic currently has such centres in all towns and districts.
The first LPR residents received Russian passports under the new procedure on June 14.
