OSCE SMM probes its employees' activities in LPR - Deinego
LUGANSK, December 24 (Lugansk Media Centre) - The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine has launched an internal probe into its employees' activities whom the Lugansk People’s Republic Interior Ministry had accused of illegal business, LPR representative at the Minsk talks, the Republic’s Foreign Minister Vladislav Deinego told the Lugansk Media Centre.
Earlier in the day, the LPR Interior Ministry public relations center reported that OSCE SMM Lugansk team employee Yury Shkarupin had illegally ferried parcels from the Ukraine-controlled territory of the Lugansk region to the LPR. On top of that, several Lugansk team members had illegally shipped 16 cars from the EU through Ukraine to the LPR for sale in the Republic. The Mission promised “a proper response.”
Deinego said that he had discussed the issue with OSCE SMM officials.
“Right after the media reports, they (SMM) launched a probe to look into these circumstances; if the stated facts are confirmed, the Mission’s leadership will take the necessary measures to stop the illegal activity (of their employees),” Deinego said.
He said that the SMM leadership takes the LPR media reports on possible violations by Mission personnel “quite seriously.”
