Observers: turnout high, elections well-organized, no major irregularities
LUGANSK, November 11 (Lugansk Media Centre) – International observers have reported a fantastic turnout at the LPR elections.
Russian MP Alexey Zhuravlev said the "organization was at high level, a lot people are coming. Ballots are available in two languages – Russian and Ukrainian."
Another Russian MP Alexay Didenko said the turnout was exceptional. "It is unprecedented," he said at the press briefing.
A member of Russian Federal Assembly Olga Timofeyeva described the elections as a way for people to return to peaceful life. "Nothing can be imposed from the outside. Imposed structures will be destructive. We hope for peaceful, stabilizing process."
A blogger and journalist from the US George Eliason said the elections were well-organized.
"We can see that the IDs are being checked at the entrance. There are lists of eligible voters. Everything is in accordance with international standards. This is the second polling stations we are visiting today. And we can see that people are not being pressured into it. They come on their own will."
National of Finland, Janus Putkonen said the observers "saw no irregularities". "The turnout is high, a lot of people came. The atmosphere is very friendly, nice, well-organized."
