Nearly 2,000 LPR residents file for Russian citizenship
LUGANSK, May 24 (Lugansk Media Centre) – Nearly two thousand LPR residents have filed documents for Russian citizenship, the LPR deputy Minister of Interior Col. Mikhail Paraskeyev said.
"As of today, May 24, approximately 2,000 LPR residents filed for Russian citizenship," said Paraskeyev at a press conference in the Justice Ministry.
Documents can be filed with 17 departments of the Migration Service across the LPR and the head office in Lugansk, and additional center in the Lugansk Center for administrative services.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed an order to simplify the procedure for obtaining a Russian passport for residents of the LPR and DPR. According to the order, the LPR and DPR residents can now apply for Russian citizenship under a simplified procedure if they provide IDs showing their permanent residence in the Donbass Republics. Marriage or divorce certificates, birth certificates, documents confirming name change or foreign citizenship should be filed as well, if applicable.
