More than 8 thousand LPR residents fully or partially vaccinated against COVID-19

LUGANSK, March 12 (Lugansk Media Centre) – More than 2.2 thousand LPR residents have been vaccinated against COVID-19, deputy dean of the Lugansk Republican Epidemiological Station Elena Andreyenkova said speaking at the Vesti Plus Lugansk TV programme.

The inoculation kicked off on February 1, it prioritized medical workers, teachers, policemen, first responders and service members.

"Two shots have been administered to 2,234 people, they are considered fully vaccinated."

The second batch of vaccines delivered from Russia in March are currently being rolled out, first shots were administered to 5,870 people, Andreyenkova said.

The reliable immune response forms within 21 days after the second shot. Russian scientist believe that vaccine-induced immunity is 1.5 times stronger than natural one.

The World Health Organisation called the COVID-19 coronavirus infection a pandemic. The first coronavirus infection cases were recorded in China in late 2019.

Sputnik V is one of the three vaccines in the world with efficacy of over 90%. The Vaccine’s efficacy is confirmed at 91.6% based on the analysis of data on 19,866 volunteers, who received both the first and second doses of the Sputnik V vaccine or placebo at the final control point of 78 confirmed COVID-19 cases.
