More than 10,000 DPR, LPR residents receive Russian passports – State Duma
LUGANSK, July 17 (Lugansk Media Centre) – More than 10,000 LPR and DPR residents have received Russian passports under a simplified procedure, TASS News Agency reported citing deputy chairman of the Russian State Duma committee on CIS, Eurasian Integration and Russian Diaspora Relations Viktor Vodolatskiy.
“10,320 DPR and LPR residents have already received (Russian passports). It is a small figure, bearing in mind that 3,264,000 want to receive them. These are the people of DPR and LPR towns, 99 percent want Russian passports.”
Vodolatskiy said that Russian migration service has been working in a beefed-up mode, though more staff is necessary both in the Republics and Russia.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed an order to simplify the procedure for obtaining a Russian passport for residents of the LPR and DPR. According to the order, the LPR and DPR residents can now apply for Russian citizenship under a simplified procedure if they provide IDs showing their permanent residence in the Donbass Republics. Marriage or divorce certificates, birth certificates, documents confirming name change or foreign citizenship should be filed as well, if applicable.
