Miroshnik: Ukraine refuses to consider the "Steinmeier formula" within Minsk format
Ukraine refused to consider the "Steinmeier formula" in the Minsk format, LPR representative in the political subgroup of the Contact Group Rodion Miroshnik told Lugansk Media Center.
Earlier he said that Kiev had twice attempted to disrupt today's meeting of the subgroup.
German foreign minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier's formula sets out the principles of implementation of the Ukrainian law "On local self-government order in certain areas of the Donetsk and Lugansk region". According to his plan, the law should be enforced on the day of local elections on a temporary basis, and permanently upon the OSCE publishing its report on the elections outcome.
"Ukrainian representative in the political working group (Alexander Motsik) frankly said that "there will be no discussion of the "Steinmeier formula in the Minsk format", Miroshnik said.
"It means Kiev declines to coordinate the mechanism of implementing the special status within the Minsk format, which is the key point of the Minsk Agreements, upon which the implementation of Articles 8 and 13 of the Package of Measures depends."
"The LPR representatives insist on considering and agreeing upon the "Steinmeier formula" that shall set time limits and mechanisms of the special status (of Donbass) coming into force; only after the completion of this stage other political agenda pints shall be negotiated," Miroshnik maintained.
