Lugansk Hospital chief doctor dies of COVID-19

LUGANSK, May 19 (Lugansk Media Centre) - Lugansk Hospital No 4 chief doctor Alexey Narvotsky who tested positive for COVID-19 has died. He was 48, said Prof Yana Sotskaya, head of the Infectious Diseases Department, St Luke Lugansk Medical University.

“Navrotsky died in an IT ward of Hospital No 4 of COVID-19 pneumonia,” Sotskaya told the Lugansk Media Centre. “Doctors have been fighting for his life till the end; they did everything possible including lung ventilation. He died yesterday.”

The World Health Organisation called the COVID-19 coronavirus infection a pandemic. The first coronavirus infection cases were recorded in China in late 2019.  As of now, the number of coronavirus contacts has exceeded 4.6 million; of those, over 312,000 died. Coronavirus cases were reported in Ukraine and Russia. Earlier, the LPR confirmed 328 COVID-19 cases.

LPR Healthcare Minister Natalia Paschenko earlier said that the Lugansk Hospital No 4 chief doctor was in critical but stable condition. The hospital's outpatient department suspended operation to prevent the spreading of novel coronavirus infection.
