LUGANSK, October 4 (Lugansk Media Centre) - Lugansk People’s Republic Central Election Commission chairwoman Yelena Kravchenko handed in a candidate’s ID to Oleg Koval who is running for Head of the Republic at the November 11 election.
Earlier, the CEC completed Koval’s registration. After verification of the documents and support lists, the CEC registered four candidates for the country’s top post, CEC secretary Yekaterina Tereschenko said.
“I’m a bit agitated, it’s an important event; I understand the responsibility I have to bear as a candidate for LPR Head. I feel good, and I’m ready for the election campaign, the ideas and thoughts to be voiced, so I’m in good spirits. I believe that a good election campaign is ahead,” Koval said.
The CEC chairwoman said that the CEC had received support lists from four of the eight candidates for the Republic’s top post.
On September 7, LPR lawmakers passed the resolution setting November 11, 2018 as the date for parliamentary and head of the Republic elections. On September 6, acting LPR Head Leonid Pasechnik signed the parliament-approved bills amending the LPR Provisional Basic Law (Constitution) and certain election law which extended the term of office for the Head of the Republic and parliamentarians from four to five years starting from the next election.
