LPR to remove fortifications at Stanitsa Luganskaya bridge by the time repairs begin - JCCC (PHOTOS)
LUGANSK, August 26 (Lugansk Media Centre) – LPR plans to finalize the dismantling of its fortifications at the Stanitsa Luganskaya bridge shortly, said an officer of the LPR Mission to the JCCC Alexey Getmanskiy.
"The four meters of the forward fortification have been dismantled, the deconstruction is to be finalized exactly by the time Ukraine begins repairs of the collapsed section," he said.
LPR engineers have embarked on scaffolding installation in the Stanitsa Luganskaya disengagement area as part of the long-awaited reconstruction of a bridge spanning over the Severskiy Donetsk river and connecting LPR and Ukraine.
Construction crews have begun preparations for the reconstruction of the bridge footing, said Oleg Podolskiy, director of the Stroitel LLC responsible for the repair works.
Lugansk Media Center correspondent who arrived at the site today said that only the JCCC officers were present at the Ukrainian side of the bridge. The construction equipment stood idle approximately 300 m away from the Ukrainian checkpoint.
Currently there is only one official checkpoint at the line of contact in LPR area of responsibility in Donbass and it is accessible via the bridge in vicinity of Stanitsa Luganskaya. Only pedestrian traffic here is possible thanks to temporary conduit, as the bridge was blown up by Ukrainian forces in early 2015. The main span has to be replaced before cars can barrel along the tarmac.
