LPR to bring up issue of Stanitsa Luganskaya checkpoint operation at Minsk talks
LUGANSK, August 7 (Lugansk Media Centre) – LPR is going to raise the issue of the Stanitsa Luganskaya operation at the next meeting of the humanitarian subgroup of the Contact Group, said LPR representative in the Contact Group humanitarian subgroup Olga Kobtseva.
Earlier on Friday Ukraine suspended the operation of its checkpoint due to the technical issues with "Act at Home" application used to control self-isolation. Several hundred people were queuing to cross the border in the evening.
"We shall definitely raise the issue at the meeting of the humanitarian subgroup of the Contact Group as today hundreds of people had to queue again in heat waiting for Ukraine to sort out technical problems," Kobtseva said.
She emphasized that such technical issues are common in Ukraine, and "are systematic".
Currently there is only one official crossing point in the LPR area of responsibility in Donbass and it is accessible via the bridge in vicinity of Stanitsa Luganskaya. In September 2017, LPR representatives at a meeting of the Contact Group humanitarian subgroup offered Ukraine to open a crossing point in the Schastye area.
The LPR repeatedly said that opening a crossing point in Zolotoye was not possible without settling the security issue, namely the presence of Ukrainian army hardware in the area which is a gross violation of the framework agreement on the disengagement of forces and hardware signed by Ukraine.
Previously, Kobtseva said that Ukraine had been blocking the launching of transport corridor for delivering humanitarian aid to the LPR. Humanitarian missions had been hand-delivering relief supplies via the pedestrian bridge near Stanitsa Luganskaya because of Kiev’s stance.
