LPR Supreme Court sentences man to 12 years for turning in comrade to Ukraine for $180 - MGB

LUGANSK, July 9 (Lugansk Media Centre) - The Lugansk People’s Republic Supreme Court sentenced a resident of Stakhanov to 12 years for high treason, the LPR State Security Ministry press service reported.
 
“The LPR Supreme Court sentenced Stakhanov resident Nikolay Polozov to 12 years in prison for the crime covered by Article 335 of the Republic’s Criminal Code (high treason),” the report said.
 
An investigation found that Polozov had helped a foreign state in activities aimed against LPR security.
 
“Polozov was recruited by agents of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), who tasked him with taking his comrade-in-arms Vasily Kryat into Ukrainian territory. Kryat was placed under arrest and convicted.
 
Polozov was paid for turning in Kryaz to Ukraine 4,700 hryvnas (11,727 rubles or about $180 at the current LPR State Bank rate). 
 
He was also tasked with infiltrating LPR militia to gather sensitive data and pass it to Ukraine.
 
Earlier, the LPR Supreme Court sentenced a resident of Alchevsk to 12 years for smuggling in the Republic weapons and ammunition for Ukrainian sabotage groups.
 
The Supreme Court of found Alchevsk resident Vitaly Buyanov guilty of high treason and sentenced him to 12 years in prison.
 
The LPR Military Court sentenced a Lugansk resident to 12 years in prison for espionage for Ukraine. An Antratsit resident was jailed for 13 years for supplying weapons and ammunition to Ukrainian saboteurs who had operated in the Republic’s territory.
 
A Slavyanoserbsk district resident was sentenced to 13 years for spying for Ukraine, and a Kirov resident to eight years for high treason. 
 
The State Security Ministry press service reported that the LPR Supreme Court had turned down the appeal lodged by Security Service of Ukraine agent Tatyana Gorbulich (call sign Tamila), sentenced to 12.5 years for high treason.
 
The MGB reminded that cooperation with foreign secret services was prohibited and punished by up to 20 years in prison with property confiscation.
 
Under the note to Article 335 (High Treason) and Article 336 (Espionage), a timely report on recruitment by a foreign secret service exempts a resident from criminal responsibility.
