LPR Supreme Court sentences Alchevsk resident to 12 years for high treason
LUGANSK, June 11 (Lugansk Media Centre) - The Lugansk People’s Republic Supreme Court sentenced a resident of Alchevsk to 12 years for smuggling to the Republic weapons and ammunition for Ukrainian sabotage groups, the LPR State Security Ministry (MGB) press service reported.
“The LPR Supreme Court sentenced Eduard Aloyan to 12 years in prison for transporting weapons and explosives for Ukrainian subversive reconnaissance groups,” the report said.
Aoloyan who engaged in passenger transportation across the contact line was recruited by agents of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) as he crossed the Gorlovka-Mayorskoye crossing point in the north of the Donetsk People’s Republic. SBU agents nicknamed him “Shirim,” the MGB said.
The investigator found out that the man “committed high treason by spying and providing assistance to a foreign state with the activity aimed against the security of the Lugansk People’s Republic.”
Aloyan also passed photos and videos of LPR facilities to Ukraine.
Earlier, the Supreme Court of found Alchevsk resident Vitaly Buyanov guilty of high treason and sentenced him to 12 years in prison.
The LPR Military Court sentenced a Lugansk resident to 12 years in prison for espionage for Ukraine. An Antratsit resident was jailed for 13 years for supplying weapons and ammunition to Ukrainian saboteurs who had operated in the Republic’s territory.
A Slavyanoserbsk district resident was sentenced to 13 years for spying for Ukraine, and a Kirov resident to eight years for high treason.
The State Security Ministry press service reported that the LPR Supreme Court had turned down the appeal lodged by Security Service of Ukraine agent Tatyana Gorbulich (call sign Tamila), sentenced to 12.5 years for high treason.
Cooperation with foreign secret services is prohibited and punished by up to 20 years in prison with property confiscation.
Under the note to Article 335 (High Treason) and Article 336 (Espionage), a timely report on recruitment by a foreign secret service exempts from criminal responsibility.
