LPR State Security Ministry helps return RUR 334 million of budget money
LUGANSK, October 10 (Lugansk Media Centre) – LPR State Security Ministry (MGB) agents helped return 334 million rubles of budget money in the period ending October 2017, the Ministry’s press service reported.
“MGB stopped several smuggling channels for material assets, narcotics and other dangerous substances and exposed thefts and misuse of budget money as part of year-long efforts towards ensuring the Republic’s economic security,” the report said.
“As a result of the measures taken together with LPR State Bank, MGB helped recover 334 million rubles of misappropriated budget money,” according to the report.
“MGB agents, in a successful operation to expose and stop stop the illegal movement of material assets, detained a supplier of funds to financial centres and currency exchange offices operating in the territory of the Lugansk People’s Republic.
“The LPR resident had been moving large sums of foreign currencies into LPR without declaring them to customs authorities. A criminal case was opened over “contraband of cash currency and/or financial instruments.” Ministry agents also prevented a delivery of strategic resources from LPR. The detainees had planned to take 2.5 million rubles worth of material assets out of the Republic,” MGB said.
