LUGANSK, October 17 (Lugansk Media Centre) – Al-Qaeda and ISIS were plotting terror attacks in Russia, said the LPR State Security Ministry (MGB) citing a detained member of a Georgian gang that was ferrying terrorists to the EU and Ukraine.

Ukrainian national Oleg Stepanenko, 35, arrived in the LPR with a fake passport issued to the name of Igor Lomovitskiy and was detained by the MGB. Stepanenko was tasked with ferrying and legalizing militants and weapons through his connections to law-enforcement bodies and the National Security Service of Ukraine. Former deputy chief of Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) Alexander Skakun arranged the transportation of terrorists to Ukraine.

"Stepanenko confessed that he had been tasked with trafficking weapons and explosives to Russia to be used in terror attacks, but the transportation had turned out to be uncoordinated with Ukrainian border control, and Stepanenko had had to flee the scene."

Border guard and Ukrainian Security Service seized 30 AKS rifles, 7,500 rounds of 5.45mm caliber from his the car he left behind.
