LPR social movement launches civil support Druzhina youth units
LUGANSK, March 5 (Lugansk Media Centre) - The Lugansk People’s Republic Mir Luganschine social movement launched a project for participants over 18 years of age, project coordinator Filipp Kobtsev said at a press briefing at the Lugansk Media Centre.
“The Druzhina project will be a new platform to bring together sport enthusiasts and active youths and promote a healthy lifestyle and LPR sport federations,” Kobtsev said.
He said that the key project objectives were patriotic education of the younger generation, promotion of sports and healthy lifestyle, enhancing the level of physical training by meeting the standards of the all-Russian sports complex GTO, participation in public sport and patriotic events and assistance in developing LPR sport societies and federations.
“We invite sport-loving young people who care about their homeland to take part in the project,” Kobstev said. It is a new project offering a new approach to patriotic upbringing of youths,” Mir Luganschine Republican Executive Committee chairman Denis Miroshnichenko said. “We’ll have certain stages such as meeting GTO standards which earn badges for passing tests; also, each newcomer will have a trial period.”
The Druzhina project participants will assist law enforcement authorities in keeping order, Miroshnichenko added.
“Druzhina is a unifying project for all youths as it brings together people who failed to join federations or were unable to fulfil themselves in school or university life, so we’re getting them together to keep them out of the street,” said Miroshnichenko’s deputy Dmitriy Kukarskiy.
“I believe it’s a very good thing for youths to be involved in public life putting things right. It is very important for them to understand politics and know unarmed combat techniques. Sport, physical training and political work make the basis of life, said Soviet cyclist, Lugansk citizen of honour Anatoly Chukanov, a 1976 Olympic Games champion and 100-km team race world champion 1977.
Potential participants are requested to contact Mir Luganschine offices to join Druzhina; project information is also available on the Mir Luganschine website.
