LPR resident sentenced to 12 years for supplying explosives to saboteurs

LUGANSK, July 11 (Lugansk Media Centre) - The Lugansk People’s Republic Supreme Court sentenced Kirov resident Denis Oleinik to 12 years in prison for supplying explosives to saboteurs who had operated in the Republic’s territory, the LPR State Security Ministry reported.

“The LPR Supreme Court sentenced Kirovsk resident Denis Oleinik to 12 years for providing explosives to saboteur groups operating in the Republic,” the report said.

The investigator said that Oleinik had committed high treason by providing “material and technical assistance” to the Ukrainian secret service.

He engaged in passenger transportation into Ukrainian territory where agents of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) recruited him in the Zaitsevo checkpoint area.

Codenamed “Denchik,” he was tasked with helping Ukrainian covert operations. Oleinek used mail packages to transport materiel to Ukrainian sabotage groups operating in the Republic.  His SBU supervisors ordered him to chose locations for planting bombs or explosives, LPR law-enforcement officers said.

Earlier, the LPR Supreme Court sentenced a man to 12 years for turning in his comrade to Ukraine for 4,700 hryvnas.

In a separate case, the Supreme Court of found Alchevsk resident Vitaly Buyanov guilty of high treason and sentenced him to 12 years in prison.

The LPR Military Court sentenced a Lugansk resident to 12 years in prison for espionage for Ukraine. An Antratsit resident was jailed for 13 years for supplying weapons and ammunition to Ukrainian saboteurs who had operated in the Republic’s territory.

A Slavyanoserbsk district resident was sentenced to 13 years for spying for Ukraine, and a Kirov resident to eight years for high treason. 

The State Security Ministry press service reported that the LPR Supreme Court had turned down the appeal lodged by Security Service of Ukraine agent Tatyana Gorbulich (call sign Tamila), sentenced to 12.5 years for high treason.

Cooperation with foreign secret services is prohibited and punished in the LPR by up to 20 years in prison with property confiscation.

 Under the note to Article 335 (High Treason) and Article 336 (Espionage), a timely report on recruitment by a foreign secret service exempts a person from criminal responsibility.
