LPR reinforces measures to prevent coronavirus
LUGANSK, March 4 (Lugansk Media Centre) – LPR is reinforcing measures aimed at protecting the Republic from exposure to coronavirus, officially known as COVID-19.
The head doctor of the Lugansk sanitary-epidemiological station Dmitry Dokashenko said that no cases of coronavirus have been registered in the LPR, but preventive measures are in place.
"We have designated medical institutions that are able to accept patients with suspected coronavirus. The hospitals are reinforces with additional staff," he said.
LPR residents arriving from China and other countries affected by the virus are quarantined for 14 days.
The condition of the quarantined patients is monitored on a daily basis and they are tested for the virus. If tests reveal no infection, the patients are dismissed.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has recently upgraded the global risk of the coronavirus outbreak to "very high" as more than 90,000 people have been infected and more than 3,000 killed since the first cases were identified in last year.
