LPR People’s Militia urges intl response to Golubovskoye shelling

LUGANSK, June 7 (Lugansk Media Centre) - The Lugansk People’s Republic People’s Militia urges the international community to secure the punishment of those responsible for shelling a bus with civilians in the Golubovskoye settlement, LPR People’s Militia spokesman Andrey Marochko said.

“Today, at 10:30, Kiev forces fired at the Golubovskoye settlement administered by the Kirov Town Council wounding six commuter bus passengers,” Marochko said. “Ukrainian terrorists have again treacherously targeted civilians with the weapons prohibited by the Minsk Agreements.”

“According to preliminary information, the fire was delivered from the Novotoshkovskoye settlement area accommodating positions of the Ukrainian army’s 53rd separate mechanised brigade commanded by war criminal Colonel Gruzevich,” Marochko said.

“We again urge the international community, international observers and all those who are not indifferent to the fate of Donbass residents to put tough pressure on Kiev authorities. Ukrainian aggression is continuing to cause the suffering of innocent civilians,” he said.

“We also call upon international monitors to record the committed crime and conduct a thorough probe. You should hold the gunmen responsible. The Donbass residents are tired of Ukrainian fascists’ massacres and demand that they be punished,” the spokesman said.

The members of the Contact Group have announced ceasefire more than ten times since autumn 2014. Kiev forces regularly violated the truce opening fire with large calibre artillery, mortars and tank guns which were to have been withdrawn in accordance with the Minsk agreements.

The Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements was adopted by the Contact Group on Ukraine on February 12, 2015 and supported by member states of the Normandy Four (Germany, Russia, Ukraine and France). The UN Security Council approved the document by its 2202 Resolution and called upon all the sides to ensure full implementation of the Package of Measures.

The document provides for comprehensive ceasefire, withdrawal of all heavy weapons from the contact line, starting a dialog on reconstruction of social and economic ties between Kiev and Donbass. It also envisages carrying out constitutional reform in Ukraine providing for decentralization and adopting permanent legislation on a special status of certain areas of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
