LPR People's Militia gets everything done for Zolotoye checkpoint opening
LUGANSK, October 13 (Lugansk Media Center) – The LPR People's Militia has finalized engineer reconnaissance of the road to Zolotoye and prepared the adjacent area for the opening of a crossing point, said LPR People’s Militia command acting chief Colonel Mikhail Filiponenko.
"The LPR People's Militia has showed its readiness to fulfill its obligations in accordance with the Minsk Agreements. Mr. Hug, Principal Deputy Chief Monitor of the OSCE SMM, has highly appreciated out efforts to provide safety for civilians and the SMM members," he said.
Currently there is only one official checkpoint at the line of contact in LPR area of responsibility in Donbass and it is accessible via the bridge in vicinity of Stanitsa Luganskaya. Only pedestrian traffic here is possible thanks to temporary conduit, as the bridge was blown up by Ukrainian forces. LPR has been continuously proposing to rebuild it.
On October 4, the Contact Group in Minsk agreed on the opening of another checkpoint in Zolotoye, where both pedestrians and vehicles will be able to cross. The launch of the crossing point is scheduled for October 20, though LPR acting Foreign Minister Vladislav Deinego expressed doubts it can opened so soon.
