LUGANSK, June 3 (Lugansk Media Centre) – LPR Head Leonid Pasechnik has downgraded People's Militia state of alert.

"Ukraine has fulfilled our demands and ceased shelling. We have registered no ceasefire violations and other provocations over the week. In this connection I have decided to take People's Militia off the highest state of alert," he said.

"We need peace. Though I want to emphasize that any provocation or shelling on Ukraine's side will be treated adequately: high alert will be resumed and the aggression will be repulsed by sufficient response."

As a result of Kiev's May 16 shellfire, a power line was damaged feeding LPR strategic and social infrastructure, and residential houses. On May 17 Ukrainian forces opened fire on repair teams despite previously issued security guarantees. The OSCE SMM has also been targeted. After that, Ukraine suspended issuance of security guarantees and cancelled those previously issued.

The Contact Group pressured Kiev into resuming security guarantees on May 23.
