LPR parliament passes counter terrorism law

LUGANSK, February 2 (Lugansk Media Centre) - LPR People’s Council deputies on Friday approved the law on countering terrorism which sets the legal framework for mobilising resources to combat this evil.

“The law sets the basic principles to counter terrorism and framework legislation and arrangements for preventing and fighting terrorism and minimizing its consequences,” chairman of the parliament’s committee for state security and defence, law-enforcement and judicial systems and human rights and freedoms protection Vitaliy Morozov said.

“The law protects basic human rights and freedoms. Terrorism is an ideology of violence and pressure to force government and self-rule bodies or international organisations into taking decisions towards intimidating the population or committing other unlawful violent acts, so we must expose, prevent and investigate acts of terror and fight terrorism,” Morozov said.
