LPR Parents Committee to handle topical issues
LUGANSK, November 9 (Lugansk Media Centre) - LPR is setting up a Parents Committee to address topical issues, such as the introduction of school uniforms for all children in the 1st through 11th grades starting next year, the Republic’s acting Education and Science Minister Sergey Tsemkalo said at a meeting with teachers on Thursday.
“Primary school uniforms might serve as the reference in our efforts,” Tsemkalo said.
He said the Justice Ministry had already approved the establishment of LPR Parents Council to address such issues. It will operate under the aegis of the Education Ministry and include parents’ representatives from all parts of the Republic.
The Education Ministry has been drawing amendments to the law On Education enabling the Republic’s educational institutions to set requirements for school uniforms from 1 September 2018.
In 2017, the Republic’s clothes manufacturers produced nearly 10,000 school uniforms for first graders. The government procurements ordered by LPR head Igor Plotnitskiy helped those companies to keep afloat. Lugansk comprehensive school No 20 was the first to receive free school uniforms for first-years.
