LPR officers, Afghan war veterans pass body of serviceman to Ukraine (PHOTOS)
LUGANSK, August 13 (Lugansk Media Centre) - Lugansk People’s Republic officers at the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination and activists from the Lugansk region Afghan War Veterans Union passed to Ukraine the body of a National Guard serverceman killed in a mine explosion in the “grey zone” near the Rassadki village on August 10.
The body was handed over near the bridge across the Seversky Donets river in the Schastye area as OSCE Special Monitoring Mission personnel were watching.
“We’ve just passed the body of a Ukrainian servicemen to representatives of the Evacuation 200 humanitarian project under the aegis of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry, which was retrieved from the neutral “grey” zone on Sunday,” Afghan War Veterans Union chairman Sergey Shonin said. “We handed over everything we had found on him and documented the handover.”
“Thanks to cooperation between the LPR JCCC, Afghan war veterans and the OSCE, we did a good job,” he added.

LPR officer at the JCCC Pavel Maximov said that the Ukrainian serviceman was killed in a Ukrainian mine explosion as he was advancing to People’s Militia positions to adjust sniper fire.
The Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements was adopted by the Contact Group on Ukraine on February 12, 2015 and supported by member states of the Normandy Four (Germany, Russia, Ukraine and France). The UN Security Council approved the document by Resolution 2202 and called upon all the sides to ensure full implementation of the Package of Measures.
The document provides for comprehensive ceasefire, withdrawal of all heavy weapons from the contact line, starting a dialog on reconstruction of social and economic ties between Kiev and Donbass. It also envisages carrying out constitutional reform in Ukraine providing for decentralization and adopting permanent legislation on a special status of certain areas of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
