LPR notifies OSCE on preparations of the May 9 military parade
LUGANSK, April 11 (Lugansk Media Centre) – LPR People's Militia has notified the OSCE SMM about some weapons being relocated to an airfield on the outskirts of Lugansk to participate in the preparations for the May 9 military parade, said LPR People's Militia spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Andrey Marochko.
The SMM reported that on 7 April it spotted seven self-propelled howitzers (2S1), seven tanks (T-72), seven multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS) (BM-21 Grad, 122mm), seven surface-to-air missile systems (9K35), and ten towed howitzers (five 2A65 Msta-B, 152mm, and five D-30 Lyagushka, 122mm) at an airfield on the south-eastern outskirts of the Lugansk city. On 9 April at the same location, the SMM again saw seven self-propelled howitzers (2S1), seven tanks (T‑72), seven multiple launch rocket systems (BM-21), seven surface-to-air missile systems (9K35) and ten towed howitzers (five 2A65 and five D-30).
"The equipment is indeed present there. Before it was relocated to the area, we have officially informed the OSCE SMM about our plans to locate the military equipment and weapons there to prepare for the military V-Day parade. SMM monitors have a daily access to the place of the weapons' location to check them and to make sure they are harmless and meant to be used at the parade only," Marochko said.
He invited journalists to visit the airfield to make sure the equipment is used for the parade preparations.
The Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements was adopted by the Contact Group on Ukraine on 12 February 2015 and supported by member states of the Normandy Four (Germany, Russia, Ukraine and France). The UN Security Council approved the document by its 2202 Resolution and called upon all the sides to ensure full implementation of the Package of Measures.
The document provides for comprehensive ceasefire, withdrawal of all heavy weapons from the contact line, starting a dialog on reconstruction of social and economic ties between Kiev and Donbass. It also envisages carrying out constitutional reform in Ukraine providing for decentralization and adopting permanent legislation on a special status of certain areas of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
