LPR militia spots Ukrainian army drone flights near contact line
LUGANSK, May 14 (Lugansk Media Centre) - The Lugansk People’s Republic People’s Militia spotted Ukrainian army drones flights in the vicinity of the contact line, LPR People’s Militia press service officer Ivan Filiponenko said at a press briefing at the Lugansk Media Centre on Tuesday.
The Ukrainian command continues to blatantly violate the Minsk Agreements using UAVs along the whole contact line, Filiponenko said.
“Our air defence facilities recorded Ukrainian UAVs on reconnaissance and fire-adjustment missions, in particular in the responsibility zone of 54th Mechanised Brigade near the Popasnaya and Novozvanovka settlements,” he said adding that the Ukrainian army continued to build up forces and hardware along the contact line.
“We draw the attention of OSCE Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) representatives to the facts of gross violation of the Minsk Agreements,” Filiponenko added.
Earlier, LPR People’s Militia’s spokesman Andrey Marochko stated that Kiev used UAVs in blatant violation of the Minsk accords.
The Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements was adopted by the Contact Group on Ukraine on February 12, 2015 and supported by member states of the Normandy Four (Germany, Russia, Ukraine and France). The UN Security Council approved the document by Resolution 2202 and called upon all the sides to ensure full implementation of the Package of Measures.
The document provides for comprehensive ceasefire, withdrawal of all heavy weapons from the contact line, starting a dialog on reconstruction of social and economic ties between Kiev and Donbass. It also envisages carrying out constitutional reform in Ukraine providing for decentralization and adopting permanent legislation on a special status of certain areas of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
