LUGANSK, July 23 (Lugansk Media Centre) - Lugansk People’s Republic militia shot down the unmanned aerial vehicle used by Kiev forces to adjust fire at the Znamenka village in the Slavyanoserbsky district, LPR People’s Militia press service officer Ivan Filiponenko said.

“The Republic’s defenders took adequate actions to supress enemy fire: two 93rd Brigade gunmen were killed and another two were wounded, an infantry fighting vehicle was damaged and a 120mm mortar and a Mavic Pro drone were destroyed,” Filiponenko said.

The Contact Group agreed the introduction of tighter ceasefire control measures starting July 27. After this decision was made, Kiev forces shelled the Znamenka village, damaging a house and wounding an LPR militiaman.

The members of the Contact Group have announced ceasefire more than 20 times since the autumn of 2014. Kiev forces regularly violated the truce opening fire with large calibre artillery, mortars and tank guns which were to have been withdrawn in accordance with the Minsk agreements.

Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014. Conflict settlement relies on the Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements, signed on February 12, 2015 in the Belarussian capital by the Contact Group members and coordinated by the Normandy Four heads of states (Russia, Germany, France and Ukraine). The document provides for ceasefire and withdrawal of heavy weapons from the contact line.
