LPR launches office to collect documents for Russian IDs (PHOTOS)

LUGANSK, May 6 (Lugansk Media Centre) –LPR has opened its first office to collect documents for obtaining Russian IDs, deputy minister of internal affairs Mikhail Paraskeyev said.

"Today, an office to collect documents to be files for Russian citizenship opened in Lugansk, at the Central Office of the LPR Interior Ministry Migration Service."

The first office of the kind offers consultations and accepts sets of documents to be subsequently filed with Russian authorities.

More offices are expected to open on May 13 across the LPR with the overall capacity to process three thousand applications in a day.

Today, about 400 people were in the queue to the Lugansk office at 9.00 a.m.

"Russian passports are a good help to us after all the sufferings. It is not just an ID, it is a hope and a future protection, showing we are not some outcasts or terrorists, but citizens of the great country," said one of Lugansk residents queuing this morning in central Lugansk to file his documents.

According to the Russian legislation, the LPR and DPR residents can now apply for Russian citizenship under a simplified procedure, if they provide IDs showing their permanent residence in the Donbass Republics. Marriage or divorce certificates, birth certificates, documents confirming name change or foreign citizenship should be filed as well, if applicable.

The applications should be reviewed by Russian authorities within three months.
