LPR handed over bodies of Ukrainian servicemen killed outside Debaltsevo, who tried to cross the contact line, to Kiev representatives, Lugansk Media Center correspondent says.
On May 2, Ukrainian squad of four people attempted to cross the contact line discretely through forested areas. They were discovered by People's Militia watch post. In a brief exchange of fire three saboteurs were killed, one wounded and escaped.
"Today we hand over the bodies of Ukrainian servicemen who died on Svetlodarsk salient," said LPR People's Militia spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Andrey Marochko.
"Three bodies were given to Ukrainian side, we don't know their identities. We only know they were Ukrainian servicemen – they had Ukrainian arms, uniform and they were moving from Ukrainian side," he added.
The procedure of bodies transfer took place outside Schastye under the supervision of the OSCE SMM monitors and representatives of the Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC).
The chairman of Afghan War Veterans of Lugansk Region Union Sergey Shonin, who facilitated the transfer, said that Ukrainian side had confirmed the dead were Ukrainian armed forces servicemen.
