LPR guarantees demining in Zolotoye area where crossing point is to be opened
LUGANSK, October 11 (Lugansk Media Center) – The LPR People's Militia guarantees it will fulfill its obligations on mine clearance operations in Zolotoye area, where a crossing point should be established, said LPR People’s Militia command acting chief Colonel Mikhail Filiponenko.
Today LPR has begun follow-up engineer reconnaissance in the designated area, monitored by the SMM and the Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC).
"Currently engineers are exploring the roadside, later we shall clear the wayside of garbage and grass. Everything is under control," Filiponenko added.
Currently there is only one official checkpoint at the line of contact in LPR area of responsibility in Donbass and it is accessible via the bridge in vicinity of Stanitsa Luganskaya. Only pedestrian traffic here is possible thanks to temporary conduit, as the bridge was blown up by Ukrainian forces. LPR has been continuously proposing to rebuild it.
On October 4, the Contact Group in Minsk agreed on the opening of another check point in Zolotoye, where both pedestrians and vehicles will be able to cross. The launch of the crossing point is scheduled for October 20, though LPR acting Foreign Minister Vladislav Deinego expressed doubts it can opened so soon.
