LPR Foreign Ministry statement on Stanitsa Luganskaya bridge repairs
Bridge repairs were among the key issues at the Minsk talks on August 21.
The parties agreed that Ukraine officially announces completion of the demining on its stretch of the area where repairs are due to begin. The LPR then officially notifies about the end of the mine clearance operation on its part of the construction site, located at the bridge breakage point.
On the same day, Ukraine sends a letter stating readiness to begin repairs of the blown-up section and specifying the date, signed by the person responsible for the repairs. August 23 was preliminary approved as the date of the beginning of repairs.
The LPR, for its part, sends a similar notification about the beginning of repairs of the other part of the bridge starting on the same day. As was agreed at the July 17 meeting, we dismantle the fortification simultaneously with Ukraine mirroring its moves. The LPR hopes that Ukraine will start by removing its checkpoint on the road leading to the bridge.
The accords reached by the parties hold out the hope that Ukraine and the LPR will begin bridge repairs simultaneously in the near future, and that they will finish them within a reasonable period.
