LUGANSK, November 8 (Lugansk Media Centre) - Lugansk People’s Republic farmers have completed harvesting spring grain crops, and are completing the harvesting of industrial and vegetable crops, the LPR Agriculture and Food Ministry reported.
“The spring crops have been brought in; industrial crops such as mustard, soybeans and flax have been fully harvested, and the harvesting of sunflower is 98-percent complete,” the report said.
Vegetable crops harvesting is nearly completed too, the Ministry said.
LPR farmers met the targets for winter crops sowing thanks to the state subsidies provided by LPR leader Leonid Pasechnik and Council of Ministers chairman Sergey Kozlov.
“As of November 7, 2018, the areas under winter crops including wheat, increased by 8 percent from the previous year,” the Ministry said.
It said it was monitoring soil preparation for spring farm work in 2019. At present, LPR farms have prepared more than 70 percent of crop areas.
Pasechnik allocated to the Republic’s agricultural sector interest-free loans to the tune of 50 million rubles for autumn farm work.
LPR Agriculture Minister Yuriy Pronko said that the Ministry had imported from Russia some 500 tons of new wheat varieties seeds.
Addressing the executive and legislative branches of power over the results of the public discussion of the LPR socio-economic development programme till 2023, called Our Choice, Pasechnik named the strategic goals of the agricultural sector development. One of the priorities is to strengthen food security by stepping up domestic food production.
