LPR experts detrmine type and power of IEDs used in Lugansk city center attacks
LUGANSK, July 8 (Lugansk Media Center) – The LPR engineers have determined the power of bombs which exploded in the center of Lugansk on Friday, said the Ministry of State Security press service head Evgenia Lyubenko.
Two explosions hit a busy street in the center of Lugansk on July 7, killing an LPR People's Militia servicewoman and injuring five people. The first bomb was put in a garbage bin outside a food store; the second blast occurred just dozens meters away.
"The first explosive device was hidden in a garbage bin next to a food store. Preliminary expertise showed that the power of the IED was equal to 1.5-2kg of TNT," Lyubenko said.
"The second IED was of the same high-explosive type the explosive power of which was about 5-7kg of TNT, with a mechanical fuse. The blast could have caused more victims if not for the KAMAZ truck placed nearby to block the road that was previously cordoned off."
