LPR envoy: ICRC does not tie reconstruction of bridge to disengagement in Stanitsa area
LUGANSK, June 7 (Lugansk Media Center) – The ICRC urges not to connect reconstruction of Stanitsa Luganskaya bridge to the disengagement of forces and hardware in this area, said LPR representative in the Contact Group humanitarian subgroup Olga Kobtseva.
"Humanitarian group review two issues: the ICRC report on the reconstruction of the bridge, and the detainees release process. The Head of the ICRC Delegation in Ukraine Alain Aeschlimann described the current situation: the cooperation of the both sides is needed to reconstruct the bridge."
"He thinks it is not connected with the disengagement in any way; it is a separate initiative."
Currently there is only one official checkpoint at the line of contact in LPR area of responsibility in Donbass and it is accessible via the bridge in vicinity of Stanitsa Luganskaya. Only pedestrian traffic here is possible thanks to a temporary conduit over the damaged parts of the bridge that was blown up by Ukrainian forces. LPR has been continuously proposing to rebuild it.
