LPR emergency crews battle 8,000 fires in 2020, save 134 people
LUGANSK, December 25 (Lugansk Media Centre) – LPR firefighters have extinguished more than eight thousand fires in 2020, rescuing 134 people, the LPR Emergencies Ministry said.
"A record number of fires has been battled this year – more than 8,000, that is 23 per day on average. The main result is that 134 lives have been saved, as well as material assets worth more than 247 million rubles in total. "
This year has seen massive bushfires, 6,149 have been recorded on the total area of 14,182 ha.
Mine rescue crews tackled 28 emergencies and incidents.
"Material assets worth 3 billion rubles have been saved and released; resuscitation and shock teams were alerted on 157 occasions and provided care for 152 employees, 22 of them underground," the report reads.
Sixteen people were saved on water, engineer crews revealed 700 UXO.
